چکیده

Common ragweed ( Ambrosia artemisiifolia L.) is an annual Asteraceae species native to North America which highly invasive across Europe and has harmful impacts, especially on human health agriculture. Besides its wide ecological range, particularly high reproductive power by seeds promoting spread various habitats regions. To prevent further control the plant, European Commission funded projects COST-Actions involving scientists from all over Europe. A joint trial was set up comprising eight different laboratories study seed viability variation in samples. Three testing methods (viability test with 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC), a germination combined subsequent TTC crush test) were tested within EU-COST-Action SMARTER network four origins. The results compared for amongst tests laboratories. main aim optimise reliability of procedures, but revealed not only significant effects origin age viability, also considerable differences between output individual furthermore Due these labs, additionally second up. Twelve Austrian populations used obtain precise adjustment method as well tight guideline interpreting results, state “intermediate” since proper classification TTC-intermediate coloured still challenge when determining rates.

Production of allergenic pollen by ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia L.) is increased in CO2-enriched atmospheres.

BACKGROUND The potential effects of global climate change on allergenic pollen production are still poorly understood. OBJECTIVE To study the direct impact of rising atmospheric CO2 concentrations on ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia L.) pollen production and growth. METHODS In environmentally controlled greenhouses, stands of ragweed plants were grown from seed through flowering stages at b...

Illumina Sequencing of Common (Short) Ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia L.) Reproductive Organs and Leaves

Ambrosia artemisiifolia L. (A. artemisiifolia, common ragweed) is one of themost aggressive, rapidly spreading and highly allergenic weeds found in many agricultural settings in the temperate zone. Chemical control of ragweed has some limitation in some crops, therefore it may cause reduced yields both in Europe and North America. The most affected are maize, sunflower, soya bean and pea in Eur...

The population genomic basis of geographic differentiation in North American common ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia L.)

Common ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia L.) is an invasive, wind-pollinated plant nearly ubiquitous in disturbed sites in its eastern North American native range and present across growing portions of Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. Phenotypic divergence between European and native-range populations has been described as rapid evolution. However, a recent study demonstrated major human-med...

Illumina sequencing of the chloroplast genome of common ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia L.)

Common ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia L.) is the most widespread weed and the most dangerous pollen allergenic plant in large areas of the temperate zone. Since herbicides like PSI and PSII inhibitors have their target genes in the chloroplast genome, understanding the chloroplast genome may indirectly support the exploration of herbicide resistance and development of novel control methods. T...
